My Great Uncle (David Smith) was a Captain for White Star steamship lines in the 1920s through the 1930s. He was in Egypt in 1923 and was presented a 'trinket' from a tomb that had just been unearthed. He had a special setting made for it from 9K gold. I inherited that stone ring in 1970 at the age of 12. When it was given to me, by his wife (my Aunt Bessie) she did it in private, with a hushed voice and looking over her shoulder. She told me where it came from and that the rest of the family thought it was too important to be given to me, at such a young age. I believe it to be a time travel device, and that it only works to travel to the past. I also believe, that he used it to travel back eleven years, to stop an infamous tragedy and clear his name. I also believe that it affected my family from before he received it. There have been too many 'coincidences' to just be random. The stone in the ring is a blue/green scarab beetle with hieroglyphs on the back (three vertical lines of carved images) the events that my family and I have experienced through many years, are too numerous to simply be coincidence. I also believe that the 'Butterfly Effect' won't allow changes, to major events. But I have been able to meet, and talk to many heroes of mine, one on one. I have been witness to many historic events and locations.

I love these stories but I wish the author had a better grasp on the science they're trying to describe. The use of the terminology, the made up "world population census" organization. I'm not a scientist but I would have loved to be an editor on this one. The world building could use just a little help.

Hey Magnetar old buddy. What is the title of that story about a group of students and university professor discover something far out in space. Then one day they are about to release their discovery. The professor is dialing in his telescope and something takes over his body, his eyes burn out and a magenta flame erupts from his head. I've been dying to listen again but cannot remember the title.
